Dr. Janet E. Wall


Dr. Wall is President and CEO of Sage Solutions.

From 1998 through 2001, she held the position of Assistant Vice President and Executive Director of ACT, Inc., directing the activities of the Educational Technology Center in Hunt Valley, MD. Products produced by this 45 member office include various versions of DISCOVER, a multi-media career guidance program, and software which translates company products into computer assisted and computer adaptive tests.

Preceding that assignment she acted as Deputy Director of the Center for Executive Education in Monterey, CA. In doing so, she was instrumental in establishing the curriculum and the facility that provides training for senior executives in the areas of information technology and business practices.

For almost nine years she was the creator and manager of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program for the Department of Defense. In that capacity she created and managed the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery's (ASVAB) Career Exploration Program. She was responsible for the research, development, evaluation, and dissemination of all components of that program, including materials for students, counselors, technical reviewers, and school administrators. In addition to developing program materials, she led the four-year development effort of an interest inventory for inclusion in the ASVAB Program. The program has won many awards.

She has written numerous journal articles, monographs, and technical and research reports, and has presented hundreds of papers, workshops, speeches, and training sessions. She represents the American Counseling Association on the Joint Committee on Testing Practices and has been elected co-chair. She co-chaired a working group that produced a video and instructional guide on the use of testing in education (award winning product) and the Code of Fair Testing Practices in Education. She helped to produce various portions of the Test Taker Rights and Responsibilities document (award winning product) and wrote a chapter for a sourcebook on testing persons with disabilities. She is past President of the Association for Assessment in Counseling and Education.

Her books include Measuring Up: Assessment Issues for Teacher, Counselor, and Administrators, What Do I Like to Do?: 101 Activities to Identify Interests and Plan Careers, three test preparation books, and Job Seekers Goldmine: A Step-by-Step Guidebook for Government and No Cost Webtools.

She is a member of the board of Americorps*NCCC and the Syracuse University, Maxwell Shool's National Security Studies Program.

Her past positions include: Deputy Division Manager for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC); Visiting Professor of Mathematics and Statistics and Career Development Officer for the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, Bologna (Italy) Center; Director of Research Administration, Naval Postgraduate School; Coordinator of Testing and Evaluation, Department of Defense Dependents Schools; and State Specialist for Evaluation and Assessment, Delaware State Department of Public Instruction; 3.5 years of high school teaching.
