The Shepaug Dam Bald Eagle Observation Area in Southbury, Connecticut is open from the third weekend of December through the first weekend of March on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. for bald eagle observation.

144,000 people have visited the observation area since it was opened to the public in 1986.  The observation area was opened to the public during the 2015 winter eagle observation season a total of 29 days.  We had 4 weather related closing days. An ice storm was responsible for our closing one Sunday.  2,500 visitors came to the Shepaug Dam during the 2015 bald eagle observation season.  We averaged 5.7 eagles on each day of our 2015 observation season.  Our high eagle count for one day was 20 eagles and our low count for one day was 1 eagle.
