I believe strongly that a healthy environment is compatible with healthy
business. Businesses must “do the right thing” in protecting environmental
resources and their employees, but must also defend their right to operate and profit.
Based on my experience, I think that industries and their associations can be most effective by:
- Treating all people
with respect.
- Acknowledging mistakes
and problems.
- Communicating often,
directly, and honestly.
- Providing a credible
message to regulators and other stakeholders.
- Emphasizing that jobs
and local economic factors depend on the manufacturing industry.
- Keeping their own
houses clean and being responsible citizens and neighbors.
- Resolving problems through discussion between industry and stakeholders to find common
ground based on sound science and shared interests and values.
As a consultant, I address problems as if they are my own. I strive to fully
understand the issues, develop reasonable and practical site specific solutions, resolve conflicts with win-win answers, meet
legal, environmental, and financial requirements, and prioritize according to my clients needs and budget.
