Christ welcomes all to St. Mary's

In 1998 the beautiful "Risen Christ" statue sculpted by Jim Thomas was dedicated, welcoming all to the community of St. Mary's. Melted within the bronze of this statue are pennies donated by parishioners.

Holy Family Statue

In 2003, a bronze sculpture of the Holy Family, also sculpted by Jim Thomas was donated to St. Mary's by Msgr. Schmitt.

Celebrating with our family of believers

We thank our parishioners and friends for their special talents and treasured contributions to our Church community.

St. Mary's altar and windowThe stained glass windows symbolizing God and his graces on mankind, were crafted by Mike and Melba Bartlett. The design is symbolic in that the sun represents the Almighty God. The rays represent graces coming down on mankind. The ship represents the bark of Peter represented by the sailboat with the Chi and Rho, the first three Greek letters for the word Christ. The water in the background represents the lake, but also the spiritual waters of Baptism.

Other inspirational works include a pencil-drawn picture of the suffering Christ by Rene LeBlanc, Msgr. Schmitt's nephew and hand-carved scuptures depicting the crucified Christ and the risen Christ crafted by late parishioner, Don Kinlein.

The tabernacle was donated to St. Louis Church in Austin when it was first built, by the parents of Msgr. Joseph J. Schmitt, as well as his aunt, Mary Lambert. It was later given to Monsignor Schmitt for St. Mary's. The tabernacle sits in a baldachino crafted by Greg Lartigue, parishioner, and rests on a base of limestone crafted by parishioner and local artist, Jim Thomas. The metaphor is Christ feeding the multitudes with bronze Biblical icons - a cross with a halo, a fish, a basket of bread, a bundle of grapes and a sheath of wheat. Carved in the stone are garlands of ivy leaves. The bronze icons are inset into the surface of the larger carved stone cross.
