Mike & Merrie We met at a singles sailing club in Eastern Massachusetts in 1999 and married in 2003. That was also the year that we undertook our first major offshore trip to Bermuda, aboard Mike's Cape Dory 36. In 2004 we participated in the Caribbean 1500 Rally and spent the winter in the Eastern Caribbean on our Saga 43. Click on the link "Our First Adagio" to read about that trip. By the end of that winter we were hooked on living aboard and long-distance cruising.
About Mike Mike retired from his job as staff manager/instructor at Nynex (now Verizon) at age 49, when they made him an offer he couldn't refuse (he "hit the door running"!), and set up his own consulting firm which he closed 4 years ago. He has two fine daughters, Ann and Christina.
Mike has been sailing since the mid-70's. In addition to being an awesome sailor he has acquired some very useful skills:
Mike is a Red Sox fan. About MerrieMerrie retired from her job as a professor (computer science and philosophy) at Smith College in June 2007 shortly after completing the manuscript for her second book, An Introduction to Many-Valued and Fuzzy Logic, so that we could live our dream of cruising. (Her first book, which was co-authored and is currently in its 5th edition, is The Logic Book.)
Merrie also started sailing in the 1970's. One of her additional skills is taking those photographs of Mike. She is also Adagio's webmaster. Merrie is a Yankees fan.
