Welcome to the
Hauenstein Sportsmen Club!
HSC is a group organized to participate in a
variety of sports in the Minnesota area. The primary sport is cycling, both road and
mountain biking. Its roots can be traced to an adventurous group of rookies in the
northwoods of Wisconsin in September 1993 and to cold October nights on the North Shore of
Lake Superior. Of course, I am referring to the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival and the
Edmund Fitzgerald Ultra Marathon respectively. Since then the group has evovled adding new
recruits and losing a few people too. It also has seen a few name changes. The club sought
support from the likes of August
Schell Brewery in New Ulm and other metro area brewers. Finally the team settled on
"Hauenstein" after two members brought a 12 pak of "the little red
friends" up to "the Fitz" one year. Hauenstein is a proud New Ulm brew and
at the time was owned by G. Heilman, it is now owned by Arneson Distributing of Sleepy Eye, MN and
brewed at the August Schell brewery in New Ulm, MN.
