Special Addition
Samhain Ritual
This ritual can be performed by one or two people.
Make sure you read through the ritual before performing to make sure you have all the neccesary
tools.
Cast the circle with the dagger saying:
Priestess:
We consecrate this circle of power to
the Ancient Gods. Here may they
manifest and bless their children.
Go back to the altar, facing north, and raise your hand in greeting and say:
Priest & Priestess:
This is a time that is not a time,
in a place that is not a place, on
a day that is not a day.
We stand at the threshold between
the worlds, before the gates of the spirit world.
May the Ancient Ones help and protect
us on our magickal journey.
Priestess, Set the chalice of water on the pentacle. Hold your dagger over the chalice saying:
Great Goddess, Bless this
creature of Water to your service.
May we always hold sacred the cauldron
waters of rebirth.
Priest, Hold the salt. Priestess hold the dagger over the salt saying:
Great Goddess Bless this
creature of Earth to your service.
May we always honor the
Earth in its many forms and beings.
Priest, Sprinkle the salt into the water. Priestess Hold the chalice up high and both say:
Great Goddess, Be you adored!
Priestess, Sprinkle the water mixture around the circle moving clockwise. Beginning in the east. replace the chalice on the altar. Priest, Hold the incense and candle. Priestess hold the Dagger over the incense burner saying:
Great God, bless this
creature of Fire to your service.
May we always remember the
sacred fires that dances within
the form of every creation.
Priestess, Hold your dagger over the incense saying:
Great God, bless this
creature of Air to your service.
May we always listen to the spirit
winds that bring us the voices of the
Ancient ones.
Priest, light the incense and briefly touch the burner to the pentacle. then raise the incense high both say:
Great God, be you adored!
Priestess, Carry the burner around the circle clockwise beginning in the east. return it to the altar.
Priest turn to the east and say:
We call upon you, Sacred Powers of Air,
to witness this right and guard
this circle.
Priestess, Light the red candle in the south and say:
We call upon you, Sacred Powers of Fire,
to witness this right and guard
this circle.
Priest, turn to the west and say:
We call upon you, Sacred Powers of Water,
to witness this right and guard
this circle.
Priestess, turn to the north and say:
We call upon you, Sacred Powers of Earth,
to witness this right and guard
this circle.
Both Move back to the altar, Face north and raise your arms in greeting and say:
This circle is bound, with power
all around. Within it we stand
with protection at hand.
Turn to the 3 candles on the left side of the altar both say:
We light 3 candles for the Goddess and God...
As Maiden, and Lover, as Mother and Warrior,
as Wise One, and AllFather..
Priestess, Point to the white candle and say:
Glorious Idhunn, keeper of the golden
apples, forever the Maiden of youth
and new beginnings, dawn and the
planted seed.
Priest, Light White Candle and say:
Bright Freyr, father of love, skill
and plenty, the bright day and
success.
Priestess, Point to Red Candle and say:
Lovely Freyja, great mother of magick
and plenty, love and knowledge.
Priest, Light Red Candle and say:
Mighty Thorr, Warrior and defender,
skilled in battle.
Priestess, Point to Black Candle and say:
Dark Mother Hel, Wise One of the
twilight lands; Queen of the night,
death and rebirth. We Welcome the
Goddess in all her forms.
Priest, Light Black Candle and say:
Dark Odhinn, Allfather, ruler of
the Gods and men. We welcome the
God in all his forms.
Priestess, Raise your Arms and say:
This is ancestor night, the feast of
the dead, the night of the wheel
turning year that brings us to the
thin veil. The gates between the
worlds stands open this night. The
footsteps of my ancestors, rustle in
the fallen leaves. the whispering
winds carry their voices to me. All
those who wish us well are welcome
within this circle.
Priestess, Place the plate of bread and salt on the pentacle and say:
This is Ancestor night, the feast of
the dead, the night strongest for
communication with those gone into
the shadow lands, those who now dwell
over the rainbow bridge.
The veil has been lifted that
we may know we am not forgotten, That
We may here the voices of our ancestors.
All those who wish us well are welcome
within this circle.
Priestess, Take the plate of bread and salt and hold it before you and say:
May we always have Good health, prosperity and plenty.
Priestess hand the plate of bread and salt to Priest after eating piece of bread. Dip a piece of the bread into the salt and eat it. Priestess, set the plate aside and put the wine chalice on the pentacle with the plate of cookies next to it and say:
We ask all those who have gathered here
to join me in this feast.
Priestess hand the cup of wine to Priest. Priest say:
May We always be strong in body, mind
and spirit. To the Gods of Asgard. Merry
meet and merry part and merry meet
again.
Priest and Priestess, Drink some of the wine and eat some of the cookies, saving some back to put outside later for the nature spirits. Replace the wine chalice on the altar, turn back to the candles and say:
This year wheel has turned, the harvest
has come again. We have sown many
thought seeds since last ancestor night.
Let the good be harvested; let those that
would hinder or hurt me be cast aside.
The threefold Goddess, the Maiden, the
Mother, the Wise One has covered me
with her gentle hands, guided me steps,
heard my desires. For this we give her honor
and love.
Turn to the God candles. Priest say:
This year wheel has turned, the harvest
has come again. Once move we stand before
the thin veil, before the gates that divide the
worlds. The great God, the Warrior of the night
skies, has protected me with his sword and
hammer, guided my steps heard my desires.
For this we give him honor and love.
Priestess, Tap the pentacle gently with your dagger. Priestess say:
Give us the true inner vision. Hear our desires
oh Great Ones. Guide and protect us. Lead us to
Greater knowledge and fulfillment.
Stand in silence while you ask what you need of the Gods then both say:
All Love and honor to the Great Lady and her Lord.
Blessed Be.
Stand in silence again then both say:
By the power of the Ancient Gods.
We bind all the power in this circle into
this spell. So mote it be.
Turn to the Eastern and Priest say:
Depart in peace of power of Air,
Our thanks and blessings.
Turn to the Southern candle and Priestess say:
Depart in peace of power of Fire,
Our thanks and blessings.
Turn to the Western candle and Priest say:
Depart in peace of power of Water,
Our thanks and blessings.
Turn to the Northern candle and Priestess say:
Depart in peace of power of Earth,
Our thanks and blessings.
Return to the altar, raise your arms and both say:
To all the beings and powers of the visible
and invisible, depart in peace. May there
always be harmony between us. Our thanks
and blessings.
Cut the circle to end the ritual and Priestess say:
The circle is open, yet ever it remains a circle.
Around and through us always flow its magickal
power.
