Digital Writing in the Classroom Book Project

After a couple of years of work, Teaching Writing Using Blogs, Wikis, and Other Digital Tools will soon be published by Christopher-Gordon Publishers. This book, co-authored with Rick Beach, Lee-Ann Kastman Breuch, and Thom Swiss (all of the University of Minnesota) is designed to bring new theories, approaches, and methods of Web 2.0 technology to teachers in high school and introductory college settings. That was quite a challenge, in part because we needed to find an appropriate balance to reach a diverse audience, neither aiming too high in technological sophistication nor creating a how-to manual for every possible classroom use of technology. We think we've found that balance, based on two rounds of very helpful reviews by practitioners. The book is also supported by a really great wiki, the creation of Rick Beach, which is available to anyone at the following URL: http://digitalwriting.pbwiki.com/

If we're lucky and Christopher-Gordon doesn't run into major roadblocks, we hope that the book will be available at the National Council of Teachers of English convention on Nov. 20-23 in San Antonio.

Here's the book's table of contents. Each chapter has a link at the wiki (above) for additional resources.
