Large Munsterlanders

WELCOME TO THUNDER RIDGE KENNEL

Next litter planned for spring 2009.  Rainey River's Deuces Wild "Deuce" has been chosen as the sire of our "B" litter.  See the Planned Litter page for further details.

Check out the "What's New" page for a short video of Alli holding Steady at the recent LM Workshop on August 9, 2008.  More pictures to come.

Check out the new photos from a April 27, 2008 preserve hunt and read what some of Dick's hunting partners had to say about our LMs!

Here at Thunder Ridge Kennel, our breeding philosophy is to improve the field performance of the Large Munsterlander (LM) while maintaining sound health, conformation, temperament and trainability.   We are a member of the Large Munsterlander Club of North America® (LMCNA) and support the club's breeding goals.

What makes the Large Munsterlander special is that they are bred BY hunters FOR hunters and not for show. Their coats are therefore highly variable, ranging from predominately white with black plates and ticking to predominately black with white ticking.

Natural born pointers and retrievers, Large Munsterlanders are persistent bird finders before and especially after the shot.  LMs are energetic, intelligent dogs that excel at both upland and water fowl hunting.

At home, LMs are affectionate, cooperative and a pleasure to live with. The LM is a very personable dog, good with children and will make a great addition to a loving, hunting home.
