Large Munsterlanders

WELCOME TO THUNDER RIDGE KENNEL

Next litter expected around July 16, 2009.  VC Timberland's George "Tucker" is the sire and Thunder Ridge's Altessa "Tess" is the dam of our "B" litter.  See the Planned Litter page for further details.
UPDATE:  X-Ray taken July 3 shows 8, possibly 9 pups (or more).  Reservations are still being accepted.

  • Check out the photos from a April, 2009 (and April 2008) preserve hunt and read what some of Dick's hunting partners had to say about our LMs!

  • See the bottom of both Alli's Page & Tess's Page for a humorous glimpse of "Living With an LM".

  • Check out the "What's New" page for a wrap up of the Midwest LM Workshop held on August 9, 2008.  This year's LM Workshop will be held on August 8, 2009.  Click Here for more details.

Here at Thunder Ridge Kennel, our breeding philosophy is to improve the field performance of the Large Munsterlander (LM) while maintaining sound health, conformation, temperament and trainability.   We are a member of the Large Munsterlander Club of North America® (LMCNA) and support the club's breeding goals.

What makes the Large Munsterlander special is that they are bred BY hunters FOR hunters and not for show. Their coats are therefore highly variable, ranging from predominately white with black plates and ticking to predominately black with white ticking.

Natural born pointers and retrievers, Large Munsterlanders are persistent bird finders before and especially after the shot.  LMs are energetic, intelligent dogs that excel at both upland and water fowl hunting.

At home, LMs are affectionate, cooperative and a pleasure to live with. The LM is a very personable dog and good with children.  LMs are bred to hunt.  Therefore, we will only place our puppies in loving, hunting homes.
