Umbo of the Shell

The umbo is the oldest part of the shell, the hinge, the beginning.

Umbo is the artist formerly known as shellmidwife, always and forever known as shell, especially if you're a friend.

Most recent story: Epiphanies (May 2007), which takes place between the season 5 episodes All Through the House and Closet Cases. It's the last days of Tim Bayliss' relationship with Julianna Cox, it's most definitely NC17, and it includes mild kink.

There are links on this page to my old fanfic web pages, which have not been updated in many years. The stories are still there, though, and they still look pretty thanks to my friend Rusty, so I'm linking to them here.

Homicide/Hard Core Logo Crossovers

My beginning in fanfiction came in 2001, when I wrote the first part of Going Under, a slash crossover between Hard Core Logo and Homicide: Life on the Street pairing Tim Bayliss and Billy Tallent. The series is long, it's over the top, it's not particularly well-characterized, and I love it like you love your first born, although parts of it make me cringe today.

So I rewrote/remixed it, which took a large portion of 2006. What came out of that is grace, too. Then I wrote a dvd commentary.

Marigold, the second series featuring Tim Bayliss and Billy Tallent, unrelated to Going Under, grace, too, or the Four Truths series.

Four Truths, the third series featuring Tim and Bill, and the one that goes most deeply into my view of Tim Bayliss as a Buddhist, especially in the second (and final) story in the series, Six Paramitas. Delicious is a little PWP set in that universe.

Homicide only

Epiphanies (see above)

Five Careers Tim Bayliss Never Pursued is short, but it has a bit of a bite to it.

Confession is an older version of what I think happened at the end of the Homicide movie; the beginning of grace, too does it better, but I'm trying to be a completist here.

The less said about my Homicide Elf Drabble the better, I think.

Due South, including crossovers

SOAP Note, written for the documentation challenge on due South Flashfic and just a lot of fun. Ray Kowalski from an outsider's perspective.

First Leg is a cracked out crossover between due South and The Amazing Race.

Unionville and its sequel Compassion pair Mark Smithbauer with Tim Bayliss, with a side helping of Fraser/Kowalski.

I wrote a drabble pairing Stella Kowalski with Connor from Angel once, but it wasn't my fault.

Stargate Atlantis stories

Floating is Teyla, gen, set in the early days of season 1.

Like That, All the Time is John Sheppard, gen, set at the end of season 1.

Hindsight is just a little Teyla character study, again set in season 1.

Gusto is McKay/Sheppard, set anytime after the beginning of season 2. Aliens make them make spanikopita.

Other stories

I've also written one story in The Wire fandom. It was for Yuletide last year, it's gen, and it's got spoilers out the wazoo for season 4. It's called Lessons.

I've written a couple stories in The Shield fandom. Opening the Door is Vic/Danny, also written for Yuletide. Pleasing Vic is Vic/Shane. There's also Did You Really Think It Was Because of His Hair?, but that's pure crackfic. They're all set around about season 1.

And there's one story that's RPF, of a sort. It was for something called The Batshit Crazy Metafic o'Doom Challenge, which, sad to say, I think was never repeated. It's called The Doppelganger, and, well, to say more than it involves Kyle Secor on a trip to Baltimore would be spoiling the story.

I've written a few other things, most of which are in my LJ memories.
