1991-present Issues

The current designs eliminate the control number and block number system. Since the date (year) is incorporated as the first two digits of the serial number, the numbering system starts anew with each year's issue. Signatures have been moved to the reverse of the note in the white area under the watermark. Signature combinations 22-29 appear on these notes. Most 500 and 1000 franc notes dated 1992 carry signature #23, but a few are also known with #22.
