David Randall Biography
I was born in 1972 in New York, New York; I'm the child of two professors, and three of my four grandparents were teachers or professors. I've spent most of my life as a bookworm, dividing my interests between history and literature--which includes reading an awful lot of comic books, fantasy, and science fiction. I started trying to write in a serious way when I was 17, spent two years (1994-96) at the Columbia MFA program, and finally got Clovermead accepted in February 2003. It was my third attempt to write a novel. Aside from being a college student or a graduate student, my gainful empolyment has included stints as an editorial assistant and an administrative assistant. I've spent most of my life in New York City, but, aside from a certain amount of travel around the US, and to Europe and Australia, I've lived four years in Pennsylvania (college), one year in Minnesota (graduate school), and six months apiece in Venezuela and Spain. The most wonderful thing to happen to me so far is that I got married in 2001.
