BIOGRAPHY
Jenny
was born to Rich and Laurel Seidelman in the windy city of Chicago on a blustry March day in 1977. At the age of five,
she moved with her parents and younger brother Cory to the suburb of Western Springs. Jenny had always loved storytelling
and her passion for the art grew even stronger when she began taking classes and performing at the Children's Theater of Western
Springs. By the age of 18, she had completed two novels, several short stories, dozens of poems, and approximately ten plays
of various lengths.
In
the fall of 1995, Jenny began to attend KnoxCollege in Galesburg, IL,
from which, in 1999 she would receive a B.A. in English Writing. During her time at KnoxCollege, Jenny was editor in chief and the head writer on the zine The
Waterfall, an editor for Knox's on-line literary magazine The Common Room and hosted several radio shows, including
Shakespeare's Sister, on which Jenny brought guest writers to read and discuss their writing and their influences.
Also during this time, Jenny studied at the Associated Colleges of the Midwest's (ACM) Chicago
Arts Program, through which she interned at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival.
Not
long after graduating from KnoxCollege,
Jenny moved back to Chicago and began to pursue a career in
theater administration. Her first position was as Office Assistant and Sales Coordinator for Emerald City Theatre Company,
which produces musicals for children and their families. For five years, she worked at Lyric Opera of Chicago in the Development
Department and she is currently employed at the Goodman Theatre. In May of 2004, she received a Masters of Arts Management
with a focus in Performing Arts from ColumbiaCollege
in Chicago.
In
addition to her career in arts administration, Jenny is a supporter of Amnesty International, A.C.L.U., Planned Parenthood,
N.O.W., Heifer International, and other human rights and social service organizations. She has been a Network Playwright with
Chicago Dramatists (where in October 2002 her play Another Sparrow Flies was performed as a staged reading) and in
