Jim Bunn With strong support from the Christian Coalition, this Oregon Congressman emphasized his strict moral values as he campaigned in 1994. But as soon as he got to Washington, Jim dumped his wife, the mother of his five children. Then he married his 31-year-old chief of staff and paid her a salary of $97,500 -- more than any staffer in the entire Oregon House delegation. Not bad wages for someone employed by an inconsequential freshman representative. Naturally, his constituents back home didn't think much of Jim's shenanigans, so his new wife had to give up her high-paying taxpayer-funded job. In 1996, after only one term, the voters in Jim's district gave him a pink slip -- and I don't mean lingerie. |
