R.J. Rushdoony You've probably never heard of this guy, and I'm sure he'd like to keep it that way. Too bad for him. Get a load of this crackpot. R.J. Rushdoony is a former member of the Rutherford Institute Board of Directors. Those are the delightful folks who helped finance Paula Jones's legal defense. Now he's the head of the Chalcedon Institute, a California-based religious think tank that argues that every Bible passage must be taken literally. R.J. is considered the spiritual father of Christian Reconstructionism, which promotes the idea of rebuilding society in accordance with biblical law. He has called for restoration of the Old Testament law that would require we stone to death all adulterers, atheists, gays, and even bratty children. And what about folks who misbehave, but not enough to merit a death sentence? Oh, they would become a member of a new slave class. Isn't that clever? R.J.'s no fan of democracy. He said it's "the great love of the cowards and failures of life." So why the hell are you still hanging out in this country? Can't you find a nice little military dictatorship that strikes your fancy? How about Myanmar? I hate to sound like a redneck, but. . .if you can't love this country, you can pack your bags and leave it. |
